Gigondas had become known as “the poor man’s Chateauneuf du Pape” a decade ago, although I think that is a bit tongue in cheek as the wines can still command a hefty price. The wines can be amazing and although this AC has developed a very strong reputation for high quality, they still tend to be a bit cheaper than equivalents from Chateauneuf.
This wine is superb. Big and powerful as you would expect, with full body. Super smooth with acidity and oak in perfect balance, and a very long lingering finish. Highly recommended. Cave de Cairanne make all their reds in a fruit forward style and minimise the tannins (by de-stemming etc) so the wine is ready to drink young. For this reason we recommend you drink within a couple of days once opened, but it is so delicious you will probably drink it within a couple of hours in reality!

Pale gold in colour, peachy aromas, so you may expect it to be like their Chardonnay or Viognier.
Intense fruit upfront, with the sauvignon element showing, a little greener and crisper with good palate cleansing acidity on the finish.
It makes a fantastic addition to their other two slightly fuller, softer whites, for those who want something more crisp with more bite.

Naturally sweet as opposed to fortified, Basileus is a light-coloured red wine, at 15% abv due solely to natural sugars in the grapes.
Sweet fruit flavours, yet fresh and clean (not cloying and heavy as some dessert wines can be). It’s in a lighter style, more of a table wine with sweetness than a true concentrated dessert wine.
Very easy drinking, smooth with gentle acidity – serve at room temperature.

Another Chilean wine in a French style!
Deep clear ruby, big red fruit upfront, full, round and smooth then the subtle oak (not vanilla) comes in on the long finish.
Thoroughly enjoyable and great value – this style of Pinot Noir would be double the price if it was from France!

Another surprise – this wine is more elegant and European in style rather than the typical Chileans we are used to.
Again handpicked and low in sulphites. Deep ruby in colour. Medium bodied, clean, elegant and smooth with red fruit flavours followed by strong chocolate on the long mouth coating finish.
Very enjoyable!

Now this wine was quite a surprise!
Handpicked grapes, and low sulphite content. It is very pale and clear with strong tropical and citrus flavours upfront, gentle acidity and a delicious bone dry finish.
I don’t normally go for Sauvignon Blanc’s as they’re generally too sharp and “fruity” for me personally, but this wine is quite the contrast to typical Chilean Sauvignon! As a “dry white” I think it’s a great option for summer drinking.
