England and Wales are both now producing some excellent wines. Not just great sparkling wines but still wines too. Cooler climate grape varieties like Solaris and Rondo are now well known over here and we are starting to see some decent Pinot Noir and Chardonnay too.
Historically prices were comparativly high due to the high costs of land but we’ve been able to do a great deal with Martin Soble of Whitethorn Farm to launch his amazing sulphite free and organic first vintage of “Wye’s Owl Wines”.

Martin has achieved something remarkable as these wines are fermented to full dryness yet only hit around 10% abv. The result is dry sulphite free white wine in a style I have not found anywhere else.
This Chardonnay is pale gold, with some body. Lovely flavours, full in the mouth from the the subtle oak ageing, with a crisp dry finish.

Pale in colour, almost clear, with an excellent fine mousse. Good fizz in the mouth with apple, pear and citrus flavours, soft gentle acidity and a bone dry finish.
This is great wine, made in the traditional Champagne bottle fermented style, up there with the best of English sparkling wines – but at a fantastic introductory price to launch Martin’s first ever vintage!
