Spanish Red Wines

We are actively beginning to specialise in boutique Spanish red wines and are working with some fantastic artisan wineries, importing their handcrafted wines into the UK for our customers. All these wines are tiny production, some just a couple of thousand bottles per year, made by passionate families. They’re generally from family farms handed down from generation to generation, and the wines are still made the same way using traditional methods, with some modern improvements.

These Spanish red wines are low sulphite and great tasting, a very healthy lifestyle choice. They’re also great value for money.

Malcaracter Organic Ribera del Duero

A great artisan Ribera del Duero Tempranillo from vineyards at altitude, hand farmed and handcrafted in tiny quantities. Indigenous yeasts are used and the wine is produced organically using sustainable farming practices. It is aged for six months in barrel.

Lovely cherry flavours, soft and smooth with medium body. Good natural acidity from the altitude bringing all the elements of the wine together in harmony – natural acidity, gentle oak and delicious flavours, all in a very natural style.

Soft and fruity, easy drinking, gentle tannins. Very enjoyable, great wine for BBQs!

Please note Jane had a very mild reaction to the sulphites so if you have a sulphite allergy you may wish to avoid this wine. I enjoyed it and for everybody else it’s a great healthy wine, we are just being extra cautious as we have quite a few customers who suffer from the sulphite allergy, so we haven’t given it a low sulphite rating (despite it being low compared to mainstream wines!

This artisan Tampesta Golan is again Prieto Picudo, this time aged in oak for 26 months. It is delicious and natural. Although aged for 26 months in oak it isn’t overpowering as some Reservas can be, it is far more balanced and elegant.
