Rose Wines Introduction

Important information if you are sensitive to Sulphites

Most Rose wines contain comparatively high levels of sulphites. For this reason, we don't list much Rose wine as it's difficult to find ones with low sulphite content. So we have only a small selection of sulphite free, organic and low sulphite roses available.

  1. Cave de Cairanne Rose Cote du Rhone Sans Sulfite

    Brand new wine.

Fantastic! We were very pleased with this.

Great colour (looks much darker in the image). Full strawberry flavours, soft and round. A bit "fatter" than their other rose wines (due to no added sulphur) which makes it a great accompaniment to spicy foods. But it's equally lovely to enjoy on it's own.

This is filling the gap until we can get more Mayrac Esprit Nature (which is en route) or more D'Anglas, and it is just as good as either of those!

  3. Santa Margherita Chiaretto DOC Stilrose

    James Suckling 90 Points

Santa Margherita Chiaretto Stilrose is a superb rose for the discerning wine drinker. Pale salmon pink in colour, full and round in the mouth with complex concentrated flavours. Gentle acidity cleanses the palate on the long finish. This wine is the Italian equivalent to good Cotes de Provence, although this is comparatively low in sulphites too (which is very difficult to find in France). This is the Italian "Whispering Angel".

  4. Cave de Cairanne Le Chene Givre Rose Cotes du Rhone Villages

    Brand new wine.

This rose is fantastic. Pale salmon in colour. Delicious red fruit flavours with a very long dry finish. Low sulphite as well. We don't have the official figures yet but Jane was able to drink it without triggering her sulphite allergy.

It looks great too (this image doesn't do it justice). Amazing value at this price.

  5. Argiolas Serra Lori Rosato Isola dei Nuraghi IGT

This is a lovely Rose. A nose of strawberries, so it comes as no suprise to get strong strawberry flavours on the palate. Plenty of fruit with a full mouthfeel and creamy texture. The wine has a crisp, dry finish leaving you wanting more. Ideal as an aperitif, for sipping in the garden or can partner certain foods such as chicken or white meats. Reminiscent of unsugared stawberries and cream!

  6. Domaine D'Anglas Farigoulette Rose sulphite free wine

Our best selling sulphite free Rose wine.

Excellent this year, Roger's best "vintage" yet in my opinion. Very pale salmon in colour. Lovely red fruit flavours on entry, soft and very easy to drink, with a long nutty finish.

Please note sulphite free rose wines are not like mainstream rose wines with added sugars and acids. If you are after that style of Rose we advise you not to order this wine.

  7. Domaine Mayrac Esprit Nature Rose sulphite free wine

Domaine Mayrac have improved on their No SO2 Rose with this Esprit Natur Rose. Still sulphite free and fully organic of course, but this wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc as opposed to Cinsault in their No SO2 wine.

It's fruity and fresh with strong strawberry flavours, a bit more mouthfeel with gentle natural acidity and a longer finish.

  8. Domaine D'Anglas Bordee les Muriers Rose sulphite free wine

Bordee par les Muriers means "bordered by mullberries". This wine comes from a 2 hectare plot of scrub lightly planted with vines.

The wine was aged in barrel for three months adding body and a full mouthfeel. Let it breathe for ten minutes to soften. It's quite complex with some red fruit flavours and a slightly nutty finish, and the oak is noticeable. It's a gourmet wine best paired with soft cheese and charcuterie.

If you want a more straight forward, lighter rose opt for their Farigoulette instead.

  10. Rainbow's End Wild Ferment Rose

This is Anton's brand new Rose - please excuse the photo it isn't entirely accurate. This wine is a beautiful pale copper in colour, very similar in appearance and style to good Cotes du Provence - it is beautiful! Very low in sulphites too.
