Chianti Classico Riserva Capraia

Tenuta di Capraia is owned by the Cali family of Rocca di Castagnoli who purchased it in 1998. It's an historic estate with a unique messoclimate which has earned it the name 'the golden basin' for it's superb conditions for the production of Sangiovese and other Chianti grapes. They only make the two wines, both of which are superb. This Riserva is made with grapes from 25 year old vines, fermented in stainless steel then aged in oak barriques for 15 months with a further 12 months in bottle prior to release. This is a big, rich wine with good fruit and a slight spice, well rounded with a long, warming finish.
