SKU 1402

Chianti Classico Capraia  is made from 90% Sangiovese with equal amounts of Colorino and Canaiolo. Tenuta di Capraia is owned by the Cali family of Rocca di Castagnoli who purchased it in 1998. It's an historic estate with a unique messoclimate which has earned it the name 'the golden basin' for it's superb conditions for the production of the above three grapes. They only make the two wines, both of which are superb. This Classico is made with grapes from 25 year old vines, fermented in stainless steel then aged in oak barriques for 15 months with a further 6 months in bottle prior to release. Intense nose with rich fruit on the palate, medium bodied with really good length. This is a very good Chianti, suited to a range of foods from pizza and pasta to red meats and hard cheese.
