Costes Cirgues Bois du Roi sulphite free wine
Deep opaque purple in colour. This is a big wine and is best decanted as it really opens up given some time to breathe. Big black fruit flavours, velvet mouth feel and soft tannins. This vintage is excellent once again.
Costes Cirgues website states:
Surface: 2 ha
Productivity: 25 hl/ha
Harvest: Manually in picking in crates
Vinification: Unlike its older brother Le Château, Bois du Roi is produced from younger vines. It nonetheless benefits from the same meticulous treatment as the prestigious “tête de cuvée”, with just one difference – the length of maceration, which lasts 20 days on average. The grapes are de-stemmed. Daily punch-down of the cap allows gentle extraction of the aromatic compounds and polyphenols. Each variety is vinified separately in concrete tanks.
Tasting: A bouquet of strawberry and kirsch-cherry aromas that persists in the mouth, associated with thyme and peppermint flavors and a sublime end-note of violet. We find the supple, silky
tannins that characterize the Bois du Roi cuvée.
