85% Sangiovese and 15% Merlot aged in French oak barriques for 8 months. The DOCG (the highest rank in the Italian system) was formed in 2006 to guarantee the superior quality of wines bearing the words Morellino di Scansano DOCG on the label. They must contain 85% Sangiovese minimum and yields per hectare are restricted to ensure the fruit is of high quality.
Morellino di Scansano DOCG has already developed a reputation worldwide for high quality wines. Intense flavour, great balance and a long dry finish.
