Bibenda 5 Grapes (highest award)
Vitae AIS 3 Grapevines (highest award)
Veronelli 3 Stars (highest award)
Awarded Gambero Rosso's highest award of Tre Bicchieri each year for five years in succession, with the 2012 receiving Due Bicchieri. It looks like this 2013 will be back up at Tre Bicchieri judging from these other awards.
A single vineyard wine from the town of Castelpiano in the premium Classico area of the Castelli di Jesi DOCg. As a Riserva, this wine has been aged for a minimum of 18 months before release.
100% Verdicchio. Some of the grapes were late picked, and a small amount were fermented in barrique to add complexity and body. The wine was also aged "sur lies" to add longevity. The resulting wine is full and complex. Perfect with seafood.
Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Riserva Vigna Novali - a long confusing name for anybody not familiar with the area of Le Marche on the eastern side of Italy roughly on a level with Tuscany. Verdicchio is the grape, probably the most famous of all from the Marche region and widely planted.
Castelli di Jesi is the DOCg region which is both close to the sea and at altitude, and Classico denotes the premium section of this DOCg. So this is wine from the very best part of this region. Riserva denotes that the wine must be aged for a minimum of 18 months prior to release.
