A previous vintage of Tapiz Torrontes won the Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards for the best (worldwide) aromatic dry white wine under £10. Quite an achievement. The 2014 was awarded 90 Points by James Suckling.
Mendoza. Tapiz have seven vineyards all at altitude between Lujan de Cuyo and the Valle de Uco.
100% Torrontés from El Jarillal Estate, Alto Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza at 3444 feet (1050 meters) above sea level.
This is a very steep area with fresh air at night and very good sunshine. This gives grapes a great aromatic intensity and very good health.
Slow Alcoholic fermentation takes place under low temperatures. Acidity is corrected in order to keep aromatic intensity and the natural residual sugar. 10% of the wine has spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
Aromas of citrus fruits such as lime and floral blend of jasmine, rose and orange blossom. In the mouth, it is fresh and persistent. Elegant and balanced. Long finish.
