Santa Margherita "52" Prosecco Superiore DOCG. Valdobbiadene Extra Dry
Santa Margherita 52 Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G. is the top Prosecco from this excellent winery, from the premier region of Valdobbiadene. Whilst called " Extra Dry" it is fruity and almost sweet on the palate with a bone dry finish. It is delicious!
Santa Margherita are world famous for their Pinot Grigio of course, but they also make some impressive reds and a fantastic range of Prosecco. This "52" is superb. It is the flagship wine of their Prosecco range launched to celebrate Santa Margherita's 52 years of making quality Prosecco.
Pale in colour with a floral nose. There's plenty of fruit on the palate with flavours of peach and apple. The acidity is kept in check, so although beautifully crisp, it is a balanced wine, very easy drinking without the acid burn some sparkling wines can give. So this wine can be enjoyed on it's own without food. The mousse is persistent with tiny bubbles and there's a very long finish. In my opinion this is one of the best Proseccos I've tasted and is great value at this price. Ideal as an aperitif or with light dishes, or even just to enjoy on it's own.
