Le Quai à Raisins Meridional
A new wine from a new venture! Robin Althof from Costes Cirgues and his wife Imogen are making small batches of their own excellent wines from different parcels of grapes from friends' vineyards. Obviously they are organically farmed.
This wine was fermented part in stainless steel and part in French oak where it remained on the lees for 8 months.
Pale gold with green highlights. Some light legs. Initial citrus flavours with a good mouthfeel. Soft, round and balanced with a clean, crisp finish. It's very difficult to get crisp acidity in a sulphite free white so Robin has added a tiny amount of sulphites at bottling. This is perhaps the closest in style to mainstream whites I've tasted.
This wine contains a total of 19 mg/l total sulphites - technically too high to be classed as "sulphite free" for which the limit is no more than 10 mg/l. But this is extremely low and the wine is still suitable for people with a sulphite allergy. Hence we have put it on our sulphite free wines page (as well as our organic page) so our regular customers who buy Robin's other wines and wines from his family's brand Costes Cirgues, are aware of it's existence.
We have a limited stock of 156 bottles.
