Jurassic Ridge text states:
"A single vineyard, hand-crafted, estate-grown and produced wine from one of our best ever vintages, made entirely (100%) from Syrah (Limmer clone) grapes. Characteristic black fruit, plums, liquorice, cassis (blackcurrant) with spicey black pepper and velvety smooth tannins. Drinking well now or cellar for another 4-5 years."
Excellent quality showing high level of concentration and balance. It's ripe and fragrant on the nose displaying red/black plum, spice, game and black pepper characters. The palate is succulent and generously flavoured with lovely mid palate weight and silky texture leading to a pleasantly drying finish. A well structured and varietally expressive Syrah. At its best: now to 2015. Sam Kim, Wine Orbit June 2011
'The 2008 vintage ...grown at Church Bay, on Waheke Island...is a distinctly savoury and earthy style with good density of blackcurrant and spice flavours and ripe, supple tannins'. Rated 'Excellent quality, Silver medal standard'. Michael Cooper , Buyer's Guide to NZ Wines 2011.
