Joubert Tradauw Redfin Pinot Noir

4 Stars Platter 2017

Joubert Tradauw Redfin Pinot Noir is a top South African Pinot Noir made in a very French style! Ruby in colour. Savoury in style, very "Burgundian" old world. I've never before found a South African Pinot Noir made in such a convincing old world style.

Joubert Tradauw Redfin Pinot Noir

4 Stars Platter 2017

A new wine for Meyer, Pinot Noir aged for 18 months in French oak.

Joubert Tradauw's tasting notes say:

"Lithe is the best way to describe this delicate and complex wine. Matured for 18 months in French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered. A maiden release with much promise..!

Translucent wafts of red cherry and Asian spice. Dried rose petals, pomegranate and sous bois aromatics. This interesting wine has a soft, lingering finish. Drink through to 2025."

I've just tasted it and was impressed. Ruby in colour. Savoury in style, very "Burgundian" old world. I've never before found a South African Pinot Noir made in such a convincing old world style.

Full and round on the palate with savoury fruit flavours. Then the oak comes through, tempered by natural acidity on the very long finish. Meyer really has produced a unique wine here. If you like your Burgundy I think you'll be very pleased with a bottle of this!
