Grangehurst Daylea Red Blend
90 Points Winemag.co.za
Grangehurst Daylea red blend 2007 - is a recent release for Jeremy for "everyday drinking". I don't know any other artisan winemaker ageing a wine for nearly ten years before release. It is typical of his style, big opulent, super smooth and thoroughly delicious.
Presentation is not good but the wine itself is superb and fantastic value.
A new wine from Jeremy last year which sold out in no time - we have finally managed to get more stock. It is fantastic!
Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz matured at the winery for several years in French oak barrels.
Big nose with good legs sticking to the side of the glass. Big fruit flavours, full body. Wonderfully smooth and integrated as all Jeremy's wines are. This wine is fabulous for the price, big, powerful, smooth and complex. You don't get many winemakers anywhere releasing a 2007 blend in 2016 for "every day" drinking!
The presentation isn't great but the wine is superb! Don't be put off by Jeremy's use of a bright red screwcap either. Once you taste this you will be back for more!
