Sorry - still not a good photo! Jeremy photographed this himself, he hasn't yet got round to having a professional shot taken! The wine is delicious though!
A fantastic crisp, refreshing exciting blend from Jeremy Walker at Grangehurst. A cross between a light red and a Rose to be drunk chilled, receiving great acclaim in South Africa. A dry rosé blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinotage, Merlot, Chenin Blanc and Shiraz!
Jeremy's reds are made in a unique style for South Africa - extensive barrel ageing prior to blending which creates beautifully integrated, complete wines. Well he's done the same with this Rose - it's full in the mouth with good body (like a red!) yet with all the delicious cherry flavours of a Rose, and even a slight citrus lift from the small amount of Chenin in there giving a pleasant crisp finish. It's like having a Red, White and Rose wine all in one. I love big reds but in warmer weather like to switch to either crisp White or a Rose wine - well this wine bridges that gap perfectly. The ideal Rose wine for a Red wine lover! Just perfect in the warmer weather.
Jeremy hand crafts all his wines - I've seen the set up and watched the bottling by hand, all done by his trusted right hand woman Etsebethe and one assistant. He uses absolutely minimal additives and achieves some of the lowest free sulphur ratings we've ever seen outside of completely sulphite free wines. This Rose has just been tested (October 2013) and only contains a remarkable 16 ppm free sulphite, and only 61 ppm total sulphite making it safe for sulphite intolerant people and a really healthy lifestyle option for anybody looking to cut out the additives in life!
