Cave de Cairanne Les Voconces
Gold - Mundus Vini, Gold at Orange
This AC Cairanne is a blend of traditional Rhone varieties all fermented together, then aged in concrete for 18 months to preserve the fruit while maturing the wine so it's ready for immediate consumption (but will keep for years if required).
Concentrated fruit flavours, medium bodied and very smooth. This is a great wine for anybody looking for depth of flavour without any wood ageing.

Text from Cave de Cairanne's website:
All the grapes are harvested manually in old vines of Grenache, Carignans and Mourvèdre. The grapes are vinified together to bring complexity from the maceration phases. The grapes selected for this vintage come from our terroirs of scrubland and give structured wines with aromas of very ripe red fruits that evolve towards notes of tapenade and black spices (pepper, clove ...). The vinification is traditional with small pumping over daily, the maceration lasts approximately 3 weeks to allow a refinement of the tannins and to give a wine at the same time rich and voluptuous. This wine is aged in concrete tanks for 18 months to be presented to our customers ready to drink, even if its aging potential can go beyond 8 years
