Cave de Cairanne Plan de Dieu La Reserve

Guide Hachette 2019 - 1 Star

Cave de Cairanne La Reserve Plan de Dieu (meaning the plan of God) is one of the 17 designated villages which make up the Rhone's Cotes du Rhone Villages. For this appellation the wine can come from one of four villages in the Vaucluse area. Due to the nature of the soils these wines tend to be dense and concentrated with vivid colour. The 2016 won Gold at the Orange Wine Fair 2017 and Silver at Decanter 2017.

Text from Cave de Cairanne's website: 100% in traditional vinification with destemming. The different plots are harvested at their phenolic optimum, thus allowing a smooth work in the cellar. Indeed, once inoculated, the grapes are very little worked (1 reassembly per day) and will release their phenolic compounds (tannins and color) gradually during a maceration phase of 10 to 20 days. The assemblies are made at the end of the winter. The wines are then aged in concrete tanks for 8 months, the tannins will be refined and skate.
