Angulo Innocenti Malbec
Again the Innocenti family have been doing multiple harvests of different vineyard plots to add different charcteristics to this wine. Three separate harvests of Malbec grapes plus they've blended in 10% Caberent Sauvignon too. Then they've aged half the wine in second and third fill French oak.
The resultant wine is smooth, with sweet fruit and some vanilla from the wood ageing. It's not complex but is good tasty wine and good value for money.
A small family winery in La Consulta, Uco Valley, Mendoza. Pedro Angulo moved to Argentina from the Basque country in the 19th century where he met and married Angel Innocenti, an immigrant from Tuscany. They married and started farming grapes. The winery is still going today operated by their great grandchildren Mariano and Maria Innocenti.
Deep ruby in colour. Red fruit on the nose, with subtle legs. Big typical Malbec flavours of red fruits and spice with subtle oak on the finish. It's on the sweeter side having so much natural sugar in the grapes. Smooth and medium bodied. It's not a big hitter like so many Argentine Malbecs, more of a food wine.
