Marche
The Marche region lies level with Tuscany on the eastern coast, the other side of the Appenine Hills. Whilst Moncaro are a cooperative, they are one of the largest and most innovative wine producers in all Italy, with a huge range of wines, and an even larger array of medals and awards.

'Nerone' Rosso Conero Riserva DOC 2003 Moncaro 75cl

13%abv. IWC - Silver 2007 & 2008, Gambero Rosso 'Due Bicchieri'. Plus a whole host of awards for previous vintages. 100% Montepulciano from the Marche region adjoining Tuscanny. Only the best, late maturing grapes from the Nerone vineyard are selected. 50% are then dried in small containers for a month while the rest are gently pressed. The juice is then fermented in small concrete vats to allow maximum skin contact. The wine is matured in small French barriques for 18 months then further aged in bottle for 12 months prior to release. Deep purple in colour with an intense nose. Supple tannins contribute to a rounded, full and delicious palate, dry on the finish. Delicious.

Moncaro Rosso Marche Region IGT 75cl

13% abv. This wine is a fruity, easy drinking blend of grapes. The wine making is handled by master winemaker Giuliano d'Ignazi and world famous consultant oenologist Riccardo Cottarella. The result is 'a soft easy drinking wine retaining the characteristics of the Marche region'. At this price, a great wine for barbeques in the summer or glug it down with your turkey at Christmas. It's fine for quaffing on it's own, but like all Italian wines, it's even better with food.
