  Chile

New Top Qualty Wines arriving shortly!

Chile is probably the biggest success story in the world of wine in the last ten years. There's a vast array of inexpensive Chilean wine everywhere, but the quality varies enormously. It's vineyards stretch over seven hundred miles north to south in a series of lush valleys between the Andes and the Coastal Ranges. Just like California, and with a very similar climate, Chile's vineyards are more affected by their location east to west between two mountain ranges, rather than north to south. Whereas east facing slopes of the Coastal Ranges receive less rainfall and warmer temperatures, the best vineyards are sited on the west facing slopes of the Andes, which benefit from cool night time temperatures producing high levels of acidity and good concentration of fruit, ideal for sauvignon blanc.

Aresti Estate Selection Gewurztraminer 2007 75cl

14% abv. Aresti is a hugely successful family owned winery with 400 hectares of their own vineyards in the Curico Valley. They make an extensive range of quality award winning wines. Their Gewurztraminer is delicious. Highly aromatic with a great floral nose and strong fruit flavours on the palate with good length. Gewurztraminer is a fantastic grape which makes some delicious wines in it's native Alsace, and it's now starting to have similar success in Chile too. This is a great wine to bring out the best in Oriental food, or simply to enjoy on it's own.

Lauca Sauvignon Blanc Reserva Maule Valley 2007 75cl

13% abv. A fantastic wine from a family owned winery, now run by Renato Guerra, the fourth generation, who works with his father - also called Renato. Between the generations there are over 100 years of winemaking expertise, backed up by state of the art technology. The wine itself is quite special. Delicious floral aromas, concentrated fruit, with full body for a Sauvignon and superb length. Highly recommended.

Hacienda Del Rey Sauvignon Blanc 2005 75cl

13% abv. A superb example of the recent improvement in Chilean wines. This is an estate bottled, single vineyard Sauvignon from the Bio Bio valley in Chile's southern region. As this region is cooler it provides a longer ripening period producing an increase in acidity, floral aroma and concentration of fruit. Absolutely delicious and tremendous value. Highly reommended.
