La Scolca Rugre Spumante Brut DOCG 75cl
A superb sparkling wine from one of Italy's very best producers. La Scolca wines tend to have "Italian" presentation - their reputation is so impressive the wines sell themselves so the presentation isn't so important to them! Just as well, but please don't be put off by the appearance, it's a great wine, far better than many Champagnes. Made from 100% Cortese grapes, fermented in the bottle! It's very pale in colour with a wonderful full flavour. Superbly balanced with great length and a crisp finish. La Scolca wines command a high price and rightly so as they are amongst Italy's best white wines.

Prosecco Valdobbiadene DOCG Solicum 75cl
A delicious Prosecco from Cantina Colli del Soligo, a co-operative of around 700 growers, in the heart of Prosecco country. It's very pale, almost clear in colour with strong fruit flavours. There's real Champagne body and depth to the wine. Lovely flavours and mouthfeel, well balanced with a long dry finish. Great wine.

Prosecco Spumante DOC Villa Domiziano 75cl
International Wine & Spirit Challenge 2011 - Silver Medal.

This is a great Prosecco at a very affordable price. Almost clear in colour. There's an instant fizz on the tongue on first sip and the wine almost evaporates in the mouth. It's lively and full flavoured. A delightful refreshing sparkler ideal as an aperitif or just to enjoy on it's own. We've always stocked Domiziano's Frizzante Prosecco so we were delighted to discover this full Spumante one. It's a cracker. Presentation has also been upgraded a bit with silver foil around the neck and gold writing on the bottle so it looks great.

Prosecco IGT Corda Domiziano Frizzante 75cl
International Wine & Spirit Challenge 2011 - Bronze Medal, International Wine Challenge - Commended.

A frizzante - lightly sparkling - Prosecco with a cork closure, requiring a corkscrew to open, but still goes off with a pop! This style of Prosecco has always been popular with the Italians as an aperitif or a summer drink, and it's now growing quickly in popularity in the UK too. Lovely flavours with a degree of sweet fruit, full in the mouth, with a really dry crisp finish. Well balanced acidity too. This is a very enjoyable summer wine, give it a try!

11% abv. Extra dry Spumante. This is a delicious Prosecco with concentrated fruit flavours from the premier Prosecco region. The sweetness of the fruit is beautifully contrasted against the crisp, bone dry finish. Well balanced acidity with a consistent mousse. Ideal aperitif or celebration wine, or just to enjoy with friends. Presentation is also very impressive with an embossed bottle, making it an ideal expensive looking gift.

Franciacorta Ca del Bosco Prestige Cuvee Brut DOCG 75cl

This is one of Italy's greatest sparkling wines and is quite spectacular. Consisting of 75% Chardonnay, 10% Pinot Bianco and 15% Pinot Nero, all vinified separately. These wines were then aged for 8 months in tank then blended together along with reserve wines from the cellar - the same process as in Champagne where different reserve vintages are back blended to achieve the required quality and style. The wine is then further bottle aged prior to release. It's pale gold in colour. On the palate there is a delightful fizz as the wine almost evaporates on the tongue, with a very fine mousse. Delicious flavours of peaches and biscuits. Supremely balanced with fantastic length. I can't praise this wine enough - it is well worth splashing out on a bottle. Presentation is fantastic too with the dumpy bottle (each bottle comes wrapped in gold celaphane).

Again extremely limited, it's a new wine for Pongracz made in tiny quantities and sold on an allocation only basis. Fabulous wine, like a Laurent Perrier Rose! Salmon pink with tiny bubbles. Lovely flavours with great length, superbly balanced acidity. Fine concentrated mousse which lasts and lasts. I predict the price of this wine will rocket as it gets discovered. It's a real bargain at this price - limited stocks of course, so be quick!

La Crusset Cava Brut Reserva 75cl
A delicious dry, organic Reserve Cava from Oscar Roboredo. It's pale in colour with a nose of green apples. Very fine mousse with sweet fruit on the palate, immediately cleansed by fresh acidity then a bone dry finish. Some Cavas can be too acidic, but this one is very well balanced indeed with a long lingering finish. It's right up there on quality with good Champagne, but with significantly less additives than most Champagnes!

Vina Casablanca Blanc de Blanc Brut 75cl

13% abv. A superb sparkling wine from Vina Casablanca, from the Casablanca Valley in Chile. It's a blend of 92% Chardonnay and 8% Chenin Blanc. The grapes are all hand picked in the early hours to retain maximum freshness, then they undergo another selection by hand when they reach the winery to ensure only the very best grapes make it into this blend. The must is cool fermented in stainless steel to gaurantee maximum flavour. The resulting wine is elegant with delicious citrus fruit flavours, a fine persistent mousse and superbly balanced acidity, with a long lingering finish. It's delicious.

Prosecco Di Valdobbiadenne, Bortolomiol Banda Rossa 75cl
IWC Bronze Medal. 11.5% abv. Fabulous! If you've never tried a good Prosecco please try this one. The sparkling wine market has been dominated by expensive Champagne and bone dry, sometimes acidic, Cava. Now the Italians are showing the rest of the world how to do it. The 'Banda Rossa' denotes this is the best wine from the prestigious Bortolomiol House. Persistent mousse, but not overly gassy, supremely balanced acidity, great flavour and just off dry on the finish. This wine is absolutely delicious and highly recommended. Perfect for weddings, christenings, birthdays etc but at this price there's no need to wait for a special occassion. Great presentation too.

This is also a superb sparkling wine. The presentation issue has now been resolved and it looks pretty good. The wine itself is superb. Great mousse, very well balanced with delicious flavours. No suprise really when you consider Morton are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir aficianados. Highly recommended!
