Herederos 1808 Viura D.O.C. Rioja 2015 75cl
Herederos de Perfecto Martinez 1808 to give the wine it's full name!

The Martinez family began producing wines in the beautiful town of Laguardia back in the 16th century. Today they are still there making these handcrafted wines in tiny quantities. Their total production is just 40,000 bottles per year. They practice sustainable methods and always ferment the grapes with their own natural yeasts. They produce some delicious outstanding wines.

The grapes were all hand picked from forty year old vines. Very pale gold in colour. Hold your glass up to the light and you will see this wine has wonderful clarity. On the nose there's an array of citrus fruits and some delicate perfume. On the palate it has good weight with delicate elegant flavours. Fresh and complex, it very quickly grows on you! We loved it.

Will pair with most foods ar just enjoy it on it's own. The photo does not do this wine justice - it is in a broad shouldered heavyweight bottle (as you can see). The label is a beautiful gold with raised print. Everything about it is high quality. These bottles are so elegant the daughter wouldn't let us throw the sample bottles away but wanted them herself for keeping olive oil in! You can't tell this from a 2D image on screen, but trust me they do look great. All the wines from Herederos are impressive and the fabulous presentation just adds an extra dimension, leaving you in no doubt they are real boutique wines.

Nidia Verdejo D.O Rueda 2015 75cl
Nidia is a remarkable tiny winery producing only this one wine which is stunningly good. That said, this year they've also produced a superb sauvignon blanc - just 7000 bottles - which is listed below, but for their entire history they've been 100% reliant on their superb Verdejo to bring in the revenue. It's no surprise then to discover this is a top quality wine made with real passion and dedication - and minimal intervention or additiives.

New vintage 2015 just landed!

Fantastic once again! Pale gold with green highlights and some legs sticking to the glass. Pear aromas followed by delicious pear and guava on the palate. Great balance, good body and very smooth with natural acidity on the long finish cleansing the palate. This is superb wine for the money, very fresh and clean.

Valdepuga Terraboa D.O Ribeiro 2015 75cl
A superb handcrafted blend of traditional Spanish grapes, combined with modern state of the art winemaking.

Jose Puga set up this tiny winery in 1998 where he made all the wines from his house for the first ten years. In 2008 he moved into a purpose built winery with modern facilities (stainless steel temperature controlled tanks etc). Felicísimo Pereira is now the consultant winemaker. He is widely regarded as the best winemaker in Galicia, and as well as lecturing on oenology and running one of the most respected wine consultancies in Spain, he is also a national wine judge and sits on the board overseeing Galician wine production.

Valdepuga is just 17 acres of vineyards, producing just 10,000 bottles of this wine and 20,000 of their "Valdepuga". All grapes are harvested by hand and soft pressed to extract only the best free run juice. This wine is pale gold in colour. Soft mouthfeel with lovely flavours of pears and peach. Great overall balance with no added tartaric acidity and very low sulphite content. It has a long finish too.

This is lovely wine, particularly well suited to seafood, but equally delicious to enjoy on it's own.
