These wines are made by dedicated producers with minimal additives and are very low in free sulphur, and as such are generally suitable for sulphite intolerant people (although different people have different tolerance levels). We've had great success with these wines helping people get back to enjoying a glass of wine again.

If you have a sulphite intolerance, or if you suffer from headaches and hangovers, or just want to cut out the additives in your wines, these wines are well worth buying. Alternatively you can go one step further and opt for our superb 'cosmoculture' sulphite free wines which are made naturally, biodynamically and without the addition of any sulphur at any stage - not just in the vineyard (as with organic wines!)

So Lo SO2 Navitas 2009 75cl Sulphite free natural wine

SO LO SO2 is a brand new brand of natural wine, developed specifically for people looking for wines with minimal sulphur. SO LO SO2 have partnered up with several top wineries around the world to produce quality boutique wines, made as naturally as possible with an absolute minimal sulphur content. For their first wine 'Navitas' they went straight to the experts - Domain Viret in the Rhone Valley. This wine isn't just low in sulphur - it is legally classed as sulphite free as there are only tiny traces of sulphur, so miniscule even the laboratory couldn't measure them. The wine is a blend of 5 different grapes, predominantly Merlot and Mouverdre 30% each with 20% Cabernet and a little Caladoc and Marselan. The wine was subsequently aged in tank for 12 months after blending. Deep ruby with purple hints. Immediately on opening the nose shows some fruit. Blackcurrant and blackberry flavours on the palate with a slight spice and very mild vanilla on the finish. Once 'opened' this wine is very smooth with medium body and a great overall balance between fruit, tannin, acidity and alcohol. Lovely on it's own, even better when paired with food. This wine is best left to aerate for 15 to 20 minutes prior to drinking, preferably decant if you can. Great stuff! It is also improving with bottle age and has subsequently earned an upgraded ratiing of 90/100.

Customer feedback - as Solo Navitas is a brand new bespoke natural wine blended specifically to appeal to the UK palate, we thought you might like to read what customers think of the wine. Unlike some websites, these are genuine comments from genuine customers!

Fantastic! I wake up feeling great (important as I start work at 6am). I always add a bottle to my mixed case of big Argentine and SA reds

A O said on his first order "hopefully good organic wine", then on his next order "Bought 2 weeks ago, beautiful wine"

J R simply emailed to say "excellent wine"

J T said "recommended by wine expert after enquiring about low sulphur wines"

"Very impressed - particularly with Solo S02 wine" comment from wine writer Jamie Goode, June 2011 after tasting our wines from Domaine Viret

Teillery No Added Sulphite Cabernet Sauvignon 2010 75cl

A fantastic Cab, made without the addition of any sulphites - Chile's first ever no added sulphite wine. It's a delicious wine in it's own right. Deep purple in colour with a strong nose of ripe black fruits. It's one of those wines that you could just smell for ten minutes. Ripe blackberry fruit on the palate with a full mouthfeel. Very soft and smooth with great overall balance between fruit, acidity and tannin. Decent length too. This wine leaves you in no doubt that you've just drunk a natural, wholesome product as you find your body naturally craving more - good natural wine like this has many health benefits including actively combatting heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Please note these wines are bottled unfiltered to retain the wine's natural full flavour. There will be some sediment (completely harmless grape particles) so you may want to decant or pour carefully.

Please note, due to this wine's lack of sulphites combined with it's light, fruity style, it needs to be consumed within a couple of hours of opening as it will react quickly with the air. If you want a more robust sulphite free red wine which can be kept a little longer once opened, opt for one of the Domain Viret wines instead. They are bigger and heavier with more alcohol and tannins to protect them.

Pascona Tradicio Biodynamic Red 2006 75cl

Reduced for January. Was £14.24, Now Only £11.99 while stocks last!

Premios Mezquita (Spanish National Wine Awards) Bronze Medal

This is a handcrafted, boutique wine, very low in sulphites, produced biodynamically. Virtually everything is done by hand on the 14 hectare vineyard. The grapes from selected old vines, are picked in small 20kg boxes so they actually arrive in the winery within 2 minutes of picking to ensure there's no risk of oxidation starting, eliminating the need to add sodium metabisulphate powder in the vineyard. The grapes are sorted by hand to ensure only the best are selected, then the varieties are fermented separately under temperature control. The wines are then blended and naturally stabilised so all these methods eliminate the need to add sulphur at the various stages of production. The resulting wine is superb. Deep ruby in colour with lovely fruit flavours and some noticeable oak on the finish. It has a smooth, full mouthfeel with well balanced cleansing acidity and a long finish. If you like smooth, fruit driven wines this is a real cracker, and it's very low in sulphur so it's fine for sulphite intolerant people too.

Renaissance Domaine Viret 2008 Sulphite free natural wine 75cl

Appellation Cotes du Rhone Villages St Maurice Controlee.

Renaissance is my recommendation if you want to try Philippe's wines. This wine is packed full of flavour, it's beautifully smooth, good length, superb acid balance too. Philippe explains that his wines aren't made just to taste good, but to be good for you and to harmonise with the body. Simple things we may not have paid much consideration to, like the relative acidity of a wine, are just as important to him. It's the whole experience of drinking the wine, not just the flavour in the mouth. This really is 'cosmic nectar'. I strongly recommend it.

Due to their unique composition of natural anti oxidants rather than sulphur, these Domain Viret wines will all benefit from decanting or aerating before drinking (preferably for 30 minutes) to get the best out of them. They all open up remarkably once given the chance to react with the air.

Organic Natural Wine Energie Yang Domaine Viret 75cl

Energie Yang is a delicious, natural Cotes du Rhone blend. Deep ruby in colour with red fruits on the nose. Soft and warm, very smooth, with strong fruit flavours and a slight mineral edge. This wine is far more than organic or even biodynamic, it's made without the addition of any sulphur whatsoever, which is frankly remarkable. When we first tried it, as well as being a lovely wine in it's own right, we found it had a positive tonic effect on us which we can't really explain. Is it just a coincidence that Alain and Philippe have called it 'Energie'? I don't pretend to understand their 'cosmoculture' system, as we only had time to experience a little while we were out there, but it certainly works. Their wines are unlike any other I have ever tasted, and this Yang is a great introduction to them before splashing out on their premium wines - which I'm sure you will once you experience the joys of drinking wine with no added sulphur.

Due to their unique composition of natural anti oxidants rather than sulphur, these Domain Viret wines will all benefit from decanting or aerating before drinking (preferably for 30 minutes) to get the best out of them. They all open up remarkably once given the chance to react with the air.

Bernat Oller Organic Red Oller del Mas 2006 75cl

Reduced for January. Was £15.26, Now Only £11.99 while stocks last!

Decanter - Commended (over £10)

D.O. Pla de Bages, Catalonia. The Oller del Mas dynasty stretches back to the 10th century when the castle, which now houses the winery, was built. While the family own a vast vineyard of over 400 hectares, they select the best grapes to produce their two premium red wines named after historical family members. Bernat Oller held important positions in the ecclesiastical heirarchy during the XVth century, and held a PhD in Theology. Virtually everything is done by hand, as this wine is crafted with real pride. The wine is ruby in colour with purple hints. There's big, soft round red fruits on the palate with medium body and a long finish with some vanilla. It's very well balanced with cleansing acidity, lovely to drink on it's own or will pair beautifully with food. It's very good wine.

Robertson Number One Constitution Road Shiraz 2008

Michael Angelo Gold Medal for the 2007. The 2006 received John Platter 4.5 Stars. Decanter - Trophy for Best South African Rhone varietal over £10

Just moved onto the 2008 which I tasted last night in Carlo's, and I believe it's their best vintage yet. Fantastic wine.

14.5% abv. This is the flagship wine from this highly successful winery. Although it's now grown to be South Africa's third largest producer, this is because it's grower owned with a firm focus on producing quality wines at affordable prices. Platter describes this wine as 'Rich, powerful and alluring. Layers of ripe red berries, vanilla and cinnamon, sheathed in svelte harmonious fruit, and oak tannins (34 months in French and American oak). Bold, structured and poised'. I was tipped off about this wine by a colleague who was involved with the winery, and bought some on his recommendation. I'll be adding my tasting notes shortly although I can never be as clear and concise as Platter!

Took a bottle to Carlo's restaurant to pair it with a Welsh Black Tbone. It's fantastic. Big juicy fruit with a mouthfeel like velvet, silky smooth, lively acidity making it ideal with food. Great length too. Like a South African Amarone! This is a cracker!

Claymore 'Dark Side Of The Moon' Shiraz Clare Valley 2007 75cl

90 Points by Wine Advocate for this vintage, 2006, with 2004 winner Best Australian Red - Singapore International Wine Challenge. The 2005 was awarded 90 points Robert Parker.

14.5% abv. 2006 now has a cork closure, not screwcap. Produced from low yielding 70 year old vines from the two best of Claymore's own vineyards in the Clare Valley, with a minimal amount of additional fruit from other premier vignerons. A big powerful full flavoured Shiraz. Full bodied, smooth and rounded. Not overly 'peppered' as some can be. Aged in French oak for 18 months prior to release. Great length. What a great wine for a dinner party from this bespoke winemaker. Production is limited to just a few thousand cases per year. One of my favourites.

Morton Estates The Regent Bordeaux Blend 2004 75cl

4 Stars - Sam Kim

This wine is a product of Morton Estate's dedicated vineyard planting programme, matching individual grape varieties to their ideal terroir. A blend of Merlot (68%), Cabernet Sauvignon (12%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) matured separately in both French and American oak then blended to produce this supreme wine. Delicious fruit enhanced by a fine tannic structure to produce a wine of elegance and complexity.

Claymore 'Nirvana' Reserve Shiraz Clare Valley 2006 75cl

James Halliday - 94 Points

14.5% abv. This is Claymore's ultra premium wine. 100% Shiraz from Claymore's Penwortham vineyard at altitude. This is a big, powerful, savoury Shiraz full of complex flavours of dark chocolate and black fruits. Well balanced with good body added from 24 months in French oak, with a 'velvet' mouth feel. This is a big wine and needs 20 minutes breathing or decanting to open up to be fully appreciated. Intense fruit flavours with vanilla on the really long finish. Can be savoured on it's own but I thoroughly enjoyed it with a Chinese banquet. Superb wine, but very limited. We are the UK's only importer and we only have a very small quantity available. It really is worth splashing out a little extra and trying a bottle as a treat.

A blend of predominantly Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. Plenty of ripe fruit aged in both American and French oak, with a hint of pepper and soft tannins. Drinking well. Pair with red meats. I find myself drinking a lot of this one at the moment. Soft, smooth, very easy drinking. Not a big complex wine but ideal when you want something good which can be opened and consumed straight away, without breaking the bank.

The Syrah and Viognier were fermented together then matured for 15 months in 85% second use French oak and 15% new American oak, then the Mouverdre added and returned to barrel for a further 4 months aging. It's a toasty warm wine with good fruit tempered by spicy pepper. Soft and velvet like in the mouth, smooth with good length. Stunning wine, it sells out so fast it's not even featured on their website. Highly recommended. Big fruit flavours, full in the mouth with an almost velvety mouth feel and a really long finish. Superbly balanced, with good acidity making it an ideal wine to enjoy with food. However I believe it's so good I just want to savour it on it's own.
