Possibly we can't get any more stock or possibly we've replaced them with another similar wine. 14%abv. Produced from 60 year old vines from a single vineyard. Good fruit with a hint of pepper, smooth and lingering. Elegant and well structured. Very nice just to drink on it's own but even better when paired with food. Unsuprisingly the majority of Argentine reds seem suited to beef dishes, and this one is no exception. I personally love this wine, I think it's superb quality for the price.

15% abv. A big, powerful shiraz with plenty of black fruit on the palate, which gives way to flavours of toffee and spice. High in alcohol and full flavoured. If you like subtle and delicate wines, this one is not for you! Best drunk on it's own as it'll overpower food.

13.5% abv. Deep purple colour. Good fruit upfront, soft and smooth with good length. Suprisingly, not as big as the Cab Sauv or Shiraz, but still a good wine to enjoy on it's own.

Good fruit on the nose. The wine has great fruit, fairly full bodied, rich and complex with just the right balance of wood and acidity on the finish. I really enjoyed it on it's own but it'd also be good with strongly flavoured foods ideally steaks, barbequed meats, casseroles or good cheese. It's refreshingly big and powerful for a Cab Sauv. Delicious.

IWC - Silver Medal 2006. 14% abv. A wonderful full flavoured Shiraz with a good balance between fruit and tannins. This wine has a long finish with strong vanilla flavours. Silver Medal winner in the International Wine Challenge 2006. Delicious and highly recommended.

This is a very low sulphite wine, made both organically and biodynamically. It's also very tasty, with strong blackberry flavours and a dry finish. Great with a steak or barbeque. Free sulphur content at bottling was 20mg/l which in itself is very low. It's likely that a further 8 to 10 mg/l of the free sulphur will have reacted with oxygen in the first six months after bottling, and been converted to bound sulphur, leaving a miniscule 10 to 12 mg/l of free sulphur which is amongst the lowest you're likely to find! If you have a sulphite intolerance give it a try!

Royal Rioja 2006/7 75cl

From Bodegas Franco Espanolas in Logrono, the heart of Rioja. Their wines are consistently good. If you're a golf player it's very possible you may have tasted this wine as it's widely available in golf clubs both in the Uk and across Europe as this producer is a major golf sponsor. Although only a basic Rioja Tinto, it's spent three months in oak producing a soft, fruit driven approachable wine. Great with barbeques or grilled meats, or very pleasant just as a glass of wine on it's own.

Tenuta Rapitala IGT Sicilia Nero D'Avola 2007 75cl

Reduced from £8.67 to £6.99

13.5% abv. 100% Nero D'Avola grapes from low yielding vines from selected parts of the Tenuta Rapitala vineyard at 400 metres above sea level. The grape must is carefully vinified, partly in wood, then aged for twelve months before bottling. The resulting wine is full flavoured and well balanced, making it ideal to accompany food.

Please note this wine is unfiltered and will contain some natural sediment of grape particles. These will be found on the base of the cork and at the bottom of the bottle. Please pour carefully, decant or use the excellent Vinturi if you don't want to get sediment in your glass. It's completely harmless and is a natural biproduct of wine production. Many producers choose to bottle their wine unfiltered as they believe filtering can take away some of the natural flavour. I've just drunk a bottle after a customer reported the sediment as a fault. It's not a fault of course and the wine was lovely, but I can understand some people may be put off with sediment in their wine if they're used to drinking factory produced, large volume wines.

This is a real bargain. Great wine, reduced from £9.19 to £6.99

13% abv. An exceptional wine from a small winery established by the Shahabi family in 1992. They specialise in the production of small quantities of high quality hand crafted wines. This Merlot, while a 2002, has aged well and is drinking superbly and will continue to do so for at least another year or more, thanks in part to a proportion of Syrah and Sangiovese having been blended with the Merlot. It has good concentrated fruit with a structured and elegant palate. Medium bodied with subtle oak, smooth and lingering. This is another very good bottle of wine, suited to a variety of foods from red meats to cheese, and even lighter dishes like roast pork or chicken.

This is a real bargain. Great wine, reduced from £9.19 to £6.99

13.5% abv. Silver Medal - Tasters Guild International Wine Competition 2008, Silver Medal - Jerry Mead New World Wine Competition 2008. Predominantly Cab Sauv with a small amount of Syrah and Petite Syrah blended in to add a slight spice. Plenty of fruit on the palate, soft and smooth with sweet tannins. Medium bodied with noticeable oak and great length. This is a good bottle of wine. Great to drink on it's own or pair with red meat casseroles, or dishes with sweet sauces such as roast duck Cantonese style.

14% abv. Deep gold in colour. This is a cool climate wine grown at altitude to retain freshness. Full bodied with good strong tropical fruit flavours and good length, enhanced by subtle oak ageing. This is yet another delicious wine from this family owned winery. Pair with cheeses, salads, smoked fish or chicken, or simply enjoy on it's own.

12.5% abv. Pale straw in colour with a clean, crisp nose. This wine has bags of flavour - we all likened it to pear drops! It's well balanced with good length. A great choice if you want a nice wine to enjoy on it's own, sat in the garden on a sunny day.

I Frari DOC Bianco di Custoza 2005 Santi 75cl

12.5% abv. An unusual wine from Veneto where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Made predominantly from Trebbiano, Garganega and Cortese grapes with small amounts of Tocai, Reisling and Pinot Bianco. The grape must is separated with 50% vinified on the skins, all under temperature control, then stored in stainless steel tanks for six months prior to bottling to retain freshness. Fragrant nose with good fruit on the palate and a long dry finish. Leave this wine to breathe for ten minutes as it opens up significantly - unusual for a white wine - but it makes a big difference to the flavours and feel of the wine.

Jane just tried this wine again this week and had a very mild reaction to the sulphites, so if you're sulphite sensitive I suggest giving it a miss. She also said how much she enjoyed though. Good fruit with a nice dry finish.

Moncaro Rosaspina Marche IGT Rosato 75cl

12.5% abv. A pleasant, easy drinking fruity rose ideal for a sunny afternoon. Plenty of fruit with a dry finish. It's a simple straight forward quaffing wine, but very enjoyable. Jane had a very mild reaction to the sulphites so if you react to sulphites it's probably best to give it a miss. I however thoroughly enjoyed it with no adverse affects.
